One Child at a Time

As anyone looking into the history of Bolivia and the situation facing her children can percieve - the needs are overwhelming. That said, we do not believe lasting change will take place by investing large amounts of funding in short-term project, nor in helping great numbers of children with just the basics.

Each child is a life, which means s/he should never be approached as a number or project. This means a great deal in terms of how an organization ought to develop projects. Projects are not an end in and of themselves, they exist to serve, in our case the individual lives represented by the children and adolescents we work with. This translates practically into greater investment. While this does include economic investment, the emphasis is not in finances. Serving a child means knowing that child, requires time beyond the 9 to 5, and demands coming alongside often emotionally trying situations. In religious terminology, we might say that to truly serve a child one must compassionately offer themselves, in humility, in sacrifice.

Thus, our focus is on transforming lives "one child at a time". We seek to pour out love upon each child, working alongside her to develop a plan de vida (life plan), offering her guidance, while at the same time listening to her dreams, and dreaming along with her.
