Letter from the FounderGreetings! I would like to sincerely thank you for taking a moment to visit our site and perhaps learn a little bit about us.
Since our inception in August of 2005, our foundation has been working to improve the lives of orphans, runaways and abandoned children in Bolivia. I was first touched by the harsh reality of South America's poorest country on a visit in October, 2004. I had the chance to visit a boys' home called Hogar Zapatito ("little shoe home") just outside the city of Cochabamba. This particular home was started by a Bolivian family with a simple desire to help those children that couldn't help themselves, and what began with one child has now grown into over thirty. Although this family's sacrifice has helped improve the lives of numerous children, the burden placed on the parents' shoulders was enormous.
For this reason, I decided to return to Bolivia for the year 2005 in order to work with the children at this home. With financial support from friends, family and my church, I was able to witness first-hand the wonderful impact a small donation can have on the life of a Bolivian child. It was about six months into my stay
that I became concerned about the future of the boys, realizing that upon my departure in December, the support I was able to give them was going to leave with me. It was out of this concern that Niños con Valor was born.
Although we are only in our infancy as an organization, we have already seen some wonderful changes in the quality of life at Hogar Zapatito due to the generosity of our donors. It is our desire that we will be able to continue making a difference in these children's lives and the lives of many others. I hope you will consider becoming part of our team in whatever manner you see fit.
Thanks again for visiting us, and I pray you too are inspired to make a difference!
Sincerely,
Endel Liias |
