Meet Our ChildrenBy sponsoring one of the children or adolescents cared for in our programs, you help a child that otherwise would be without hope, without opportunity, without future, find all of these and so much more. Your support not only helps meet the basic needs of your child, it also benefits the project and community they are a part of. You can read summary profiles of all of our children by visiting our child sponsorship gallery via the button below.
Who are the Children?
We work with children who have no other means of support and thus live in a center for orphaned or abandoned children, with adolescents who have grown up on the streets and face a tough road to recovery, with HIV positive babies and infants who already feel the painful sting of discrimination.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the more common questions we’ve been asked about our sponsorship program. If you have one that we haven’t answered below, please send us an email at email@example.com.
Can I choose the child I want to sponsor?
Absolutely! We love when sponsors establish personal connections with our children, and make every effort to accommodate specific requests made by sponsors.
If you aren’t sure, or just want to be placed with a child who needs more support, we are happy to set up the match for you.
You can also specific gender and age, and we can pass along a few options for you to choose from.
Will I receive updates?
You will be matched with a beautiful Bolivian child. You will receive a color photograph of your child as well as his or her personal history and information about the program they are a part of.
Every year you will receive a new photo and an update on the progress of your sponsored child and their program. You will also receive regular updates from our foundation on all of our programs with children in Bolivia.
What is Niños con Valor’s sponsorship model and how much does it cost?
Our sponsorship program works on a “sponsorship family” model, and it costs $30/month per sponsor. This means that you will be joined with other sponsors who will create a family that will cover the entire cost of care for that child (average of $500/month). While many programs have just one sponsor for each child, those children are usually in an intact family. As our children live with us and require 24 hour care in one of our homes, the cost of caring for that child is significantly higher.
How long does a sponsorship last?
In general, as long as you want. In particular, the duration of sponsorship for a particular child will depend on his or her age and personal life plan. We strive to place our children in families whenever possible, either through adoption or family reunification, but many of our children will not be able to be placed in a family. Once the child reaches 18, you will have the option to support a new child or continue supporting your current child by directing your donation to Sendero de Esperanza, our external support program designed to help young adults living outside of one of our homes.
How is my monthly support used?
Your monthly gift is used to cover the costs of providing a loving home and holistic care to your child. Our sponsorship program is administrated by volunteers, so 100% of your donation goes directly to care for your child.
Can I send gifts to my child?
In the interest of fairness to all the children in the homes, we ask that you please not send gifts directly to your child. However, you will have the opportunity to make special donations to go toward gifts for their birthday as well as for Christmas.
